Almost four years since his first studio album ‘Northern Lights’, Gareth Emery’s long expected ‘Drive’ has been just about two years in the making. Finally all set to hit the stores on April 1st, after the madness that is Miami Music Week, the English expert gives us a pair of truthful trance/progressive house glimpses in front of its full release.
The first of the two, ‘Long Way Home’ is described as possibly Gareth’s own personal favorite of the album. Passionate and melodically heavy to serve as an parable of journey, don’t assume this appealing number is a banger or energetic club track.
“I wanted this to be the first track from Drive I shared with you all not because it’s the biggest or the best, but because it’s probably my personal favorite. The album was basically inspired by a road trip I took with my wife from New York to Los Angeles last year, taking in Route 66 and numerous ghost towns, deserts, mountain passes, dirt roads etc, and I came up with the melody for this one towards the end.” described Emery on his Soundcloud page.
The second and the one with moodier in essence is ‘Beautiful Rage’ with a bold courage progression that commences the melodiously relaxed voice of acoustic singer LJ Ayrten. With Drive, Emery aims to step away from characteristic EDM drops and commercial sounds to simply bring us songs in true Gareth Emery style.
“I love working with vocalists that haven’t done dance music before, and have introduced a few of them to the electronic world over the years. LJ Ayrten is firmly from the acoustic singer songwriter camp and after hearing her Deep Down Rebel EP last year, I knew she would be amazing on an electronic track, I just needed to find the right one!” said Emery for his second track from Drive.
There’s no word on the release of the two singles, but you can surely give the previews a listen below!
