The popular British rock band Coldplay (a name which is not typically associated with electronic music) have now surprised fans with the sudden release of a brand new single – an experimental, ambient, electronic track aptly titled as “Midnight”. The band has teamed up with London based music producer Jon Hopkins for this new single, who has worked in the past with artists like Imogen Heap and Brian Eno.
“Midnight” is a perfect chilled electronic track containing vocoder processed vocals of Chris Martin along with beautiful piano riffs and quality production work. The single comes out with a perfectly accompanied video clip which is just as chilled out and dark as the track. The single which is presumably from their upcoming sixth studio album sparks an excitement among the electronic music community that whether the band will be exploring the spectrum of electronic music for their upcoming projects or “Midnight” was just an experimental one timer.
Also with less than 48 hours since Coldplay has released “Midnight”, it has already received tremendous support, particularly from the electronic music industry. The swedish producer Marcus Schossow has even released an indie house remix of the track as a free download. Definitely there will be more of such remixes to follow in the coming days from other artists as well, so do watch out!
