Berlin based producer Claptone is a hard man to pin down on a particular genre. Never ceasing to experiment, his portfolio is blossoming with sonic experiments driven towards perfection. And now Claptone presents a delightful and melodic journey in the form of ‘Ghost / United‘ on the prestigious Exploited Records. Alongwith the two tracks, he also previewed a beautifully shot video for the track ‘Ghost‘ which was shot completely in the city of Sweden.
Both tracks have an infectious hook attached to them and vocal work by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s Alex Ounsworth assists in building that sombre mood that the melody initially provides. While both tracks seem to shadow each other creating a sort of journey, the first track ‘Ghost‘ builds a dark atmosphere with its moody vocals and coarse string work. Some progressive builds lighten the mood as we transition into the second track ‘United‘ which graduates into a more groove oriented sound terrain as some delightful piano work is fused with those traditional Swedish House loops!
