The people of Edinburgh were left in a state of mighty displeasure a mere 24 hours before the start of the iconic I AM HARDWELL concert featuring DJ Mag World #1 DJ Hardwell. While most patrons took to social media to voice their fury blaming management and promoters, the real reasons were far more severe and shocking to say the least. In the wake of the terrible events that had taken place in the I AM HARDWELL: Belfast leg a day before, local authorities made the decision to withdraw the license.
Paramedics had to be called to attend to the patrons at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast
More than 100 young people were treated by paramedics for the effects of alcohol and, in some cases drugs, at the concert in Belfast. Paramedics who were rushed to the spot to treat people described it “like a disaster zone” and claimed some of the victims were “life-threateningly ill”. As intoxication was given as the major cause for the distress, officials pointed out that many youngsters were under the influence of drugs and/or other intoxicants even before entering the venue.
Around 109 guests had to be attended to during and after the event
Security personnel were said to have been exhausted with the event, as youngsters were seen to be falling ill and vomiting within the premises. Besides the intoxication, numerous ‘brawls’ are said to have been broke out in the course of the event. One such fight was captured on mobile phone and uploaded on a video-sharing website.

As the event concluded, parents were crowded up outside the venue and nearby hospitals to meet their children.
Incidents like these do grave injustice to the general perception of Dance music. It is important to point out that, while the idea is to always have a good time at such events in the company of your friends and loved ones, we must always remember to protect ourselves and each other against any harm that may befall on us. Our deepest prayers and thoughts go out to the victims of this horrifying event and we wish the curbing of such events in the future.
