After his tour of India a little while back along side Skream, we really wish this wasn’t true. However, Benga has gone on to announce on his Facebook fan page that he’s in love and is opting out of the game. His Twitter account (@iambenga), had already gone down earlier in the day, following which the UK based bass music pioneer announced that he’s engaged and shall be planning on pursuing the path of fatherhood from now onwards rather than DJing.
Now we certainly do dislike bringing this news to you, but it appears that Adegbenga Adejumo aka Benga, has called it quits. One of the biggest figures behind the early dubstep movement is allegedly crating up his vinyl. From his show on BBC Radio 1 with Skream to the incredible trio, Magnetic Man to his Youtube breaking hit “Crunked Up”, we truly cannot help but feel a little underwhelmed with his apparent departure.
A little while later, Skream also spoke out on twitter regarding Benga’s decision saying,
Salute to my brother Benga…. It takes a lot to announce something like that. He's been nothing but pure inspiration to me over the years.
