After the entire fiasco in the past with Flo Rida and Deadmau5 (Read more here; and the Flo Rida response, here) Music equipment & accessory company Beamz seems to be in the limelight again.
This time around they’ve allegedly employed a fake DJ as its spokesperson for the BeamzDJ Product. GrandMaster Jay, the self proclaimed pioneer of hip-hop, is seen in the product’s commercial using the product to mime over an extract from real pioneer, Dj Jazzy Jeff’s set.
A study into GrandMaster Jay shows no verifiable results on the Internet apart from a few forums (including a Serato page that no longer exists) that date back to 2009, that state that “was very popular until RUN DMC appeared and Jam Master Jay stole his name.” The Wikipedia Page under GrandMaster Jay has since been completely deleted with a comment citing “Fraudulent page with false information“

Furthermore, Hip Hop legends like Grandmaster Flash and DJ Jazzy Jeff have spoken out in outrage about this offensive commercial.
“As a DJ…I really don’t understand how you can be OK with this and call yourself a DJ!! This is a show that Myself & Skillz did at the House Of Blues “see YouTube” and this so called DJ “Grandmaster Jay” who’s Wiki page reads like He’s Dj Cash Money or Dj Scratch is making it like it his to sell a Dj Controller that takes other DJs material so u can FAKE IT like it’s yours!!!! This is SOOO NOT COOL! And @Beamzmusic should do there research before allowing the wrong person to endorse there product. I don’t care if you are the worst DJ in the world…I’ll give you credit…JUST DONT FAKE IT…See for yourself!!!”

This has resulted in an outroar from the hip-hop community and since then, the original commercial has been removed from Beamz’ YouTube page, and re-editted.
