Deadmau5 has now gone ahead and joined hands with Astralwerks Records for a strategic partnership. Astralwerks Records will now become a US home for all of the producer’s artist releases and Deadmau5 will be added to Astralwerks’ roster, as well as them being the exclusive distributor of his music and label partner for Mau5trap Recordings. Deadmau5 expressed his excitement about all this as : “So, it’s now official… Yep, we’ve teamed up with our friends at Astralwerks! It’s done, and this shit is happening! Big plans are in motion people. BIG.”. The agreement involves Deadmau5 retaining creative control over his Mau5trap artists and the label still functioning as a separate entity to Astralwerks from Astralwerks’ Toronto offices.
Astralwerks GM Glenn Mendlinger says that “Joel is an absolute trailblazer, pushing the boundaries of electronic music, production, and the live experience to places unimaginable without his vision and contribution. This is an exciting moment, but it’s only the beginning. Watch this space…“
The first release under the new arrangement will be a compilation album “We Are Friends Vol. 2″, which is set to be released on November 12th with pre-sale copies being launched on October 22nd. It will feature two new Deadmau5 productions – “Your Ad Here” and “Suckfest9001″ (which is already given away as a free download), apart from tracks by Al Bizarre, BSOD, James Njie and Kairo Kingdom, to name a few.
