A name that is synonymous with the drum & bass genre, Rusko is one of the biggest artists to contribute to this highly underrated sub genre of electronic music. Having laid low for quite a while, Rusko has come back with a jolt and released his latest EP via Skrillex’s OWSLA label titled Lift Me Up. Hit past the break to learn more about this star!
The EP consists of three tracks namely, Starlight, Lift Me Up and Murda Sound, but all three pay homage to some pure drum & bass, clocking in around 175 bpm. We think everything about this new EP is brilliant and can’t wait for you’ll to hear it! Despite fans of the drum & bass world being divided over old-school grimy dubstep tracks (which Rusko used to produce once upon a time) and the newer, peppier stuff that’s being dished out these days, we think its safe to say that we favor both sides of the argument. Lift Me Up and Murda Sound are two back to back aggressive drum & bass tunes with melodic vocals and an addictive, bass heavy drop reminiscent of old school Rusko. Starlight though is the ballad of this EP with beautiful vocals courtesy of Claes Rosen. The gaps in Starlight are highly favored, and we’d go as far as saying that this is our favourite track on the EP, reminding us slightly of the sounds of Netsky & Sub Focus. With people commenting that Rusko seems to have changed his sound to embrace his new home in OWLSA, we don’t really care, if he continues to produce tracks of this quality!
