Culprateis one of the most underrated artists in the world. His tracks shoot volumes of nibbly bass & cloudy synths . A promising talent that could flood the EDM pipelines with his blend of glitch and dubstep with futuristic lasers and menacing bass. This new EP switches up style, touching up on UK garage, future bass, techno, and purple.
Dubstep is one of the most untrodden genres in EDM, and has not received a lot of acclaim by the EDM enthusiasts. But it is artists like Culprate that give me hope , without me fearing to sacrifice my left ear.
‘Scarred’ is a melodic bassy track . It has been sitting in his arsenal for a while now and finally unleashed off his ‘port’ of talent.
“Eddys”, the second track of the EP shows the abstract side of bass music that Cuprate doesnt want to let go of.
“Talk To Frank” is definitely one of my favourites from this EP and makes me want to dip my ears in it every now and again. The fact the instrumentals aren’t the easiest to lay his grimy verses over makes this a truly insane tune.
There is a story behind producing “McFunk”. it is actually 1 of 4 collaborations Culprate did with the duo, Torqux. By the time the tracks were completed, Culprate took this incredible funky House tune and let the duo keep the other 3 tracks. Win win situation?
“Reboot” is the most unexpected track of them all . Collaborating with Addergebroed, Culprate lays out some of the best Techno I have heard in a long time. “Reboot” is exactly what it’s named, it is the revival of one of the most legendary genres. If this track doesn’t inspire EDM enthusiasts to look back at Techno, then I cant think of anything that would (except Daft Punk).
