Pioneers of hard-electro The Prodigy who produced the legendary album “The Fat of the Land” in 1997, recently reached the album’s 15th anniversary and XL Records decided to celebrate with a reissue. This time the originals will be accompanied by remixes from some of 2012?s biggest names and the latest are from ZEDS DEAD and Noisia.
In anticipation of the rerelease, XL Records released an EP with a sneak-peek into the remixes. As a result of which, the first two remix’s we’ve gotten our hands on are a powerful dubstep remix of “Smack My Bitch Up” from DnB legends Noisia and and a super dancefloor smasher remix of “Breathe” from Zeds Dead.
Noisia starts off the 2 track compilation with a remix of the all time favourite of many, “Smack My Bitch Up”, giving the track a sharper dubstep edge. Coming fresh after a remix of Skrillex for Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph” soundtrack, Noisia gets the ball rolling coming up with what most fans are calling an unmatched interpretation of “Smack My Bitch Up”. In mind-shattering fashion, the Dutch trio has provided one of those “hear it to believe it” tunes of the year.
Zeds Dead remix “Breathe” to give us the 2nd track on the EP, another one of The Prodigy‘s biggest tunes, deconstructing the track entirely to recreate a dark vibrating electro beat. Keeping the original instrumental hook and a vocal sample, they remix “Breathe” into a club banger without losing its original outstanding vibes.
The reissue of “The Fat of the Land” is due December 3 and will also include remixes from the likes of Major Lazer, Alvin Risk and Baauer.
