It’s a known fact that not a lot of people agree with DJ Mag‘s annual Top 100 DJ polls. With accusations of buying votes and what not, the polls have been branded as a popularity contest, more than a measure of their talents as a DJ.
In order to provide their own perspective, the closely knit community of electronic music fans on Reddit hold their polls to decide the best DJ, and the result for 2016 is out. With a total of 572 people voting, resulting in 2860 votes, Martin Garrix took the first spot on the list, with The Chainsmokers, Porter Robinson, Hardwell and KSHMR rounding off the Top 5.

The grading for the polls was done on the following parameters: 1st place votes received 5 points, 2nd place votes received 4 points, and so-on. Tie breakers were decided by first looking at overall votes and then looking at totals for 1st place votes, then 2nd. Last year’s polls saw Eric Prydz top the list, with Porter Robinson, Martin Garrix, Skrillex and Hardwell rounding off the top 5.
