Being one of the most highly anticipated tours in recent times, Skrillex‘s debut India tour was met with high enthusiasm amongst his fans. Skrillex was the first love of most Dubstep fans across the world. With his extensive background in music, from starting with a post-hardcore band to establishing a solo career as a music producer, he’s well versed in what gets the crowd going. He performed in 4 Indian cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru – and he rocked all 4 of them.
The opening act in all the cities was done by Mija – Skrillex’s label mate at OWSLA. In many ways, Mija is from the school of music that Skrillex follows, with her mixes going from soothing to downright crazy in 5 seconds. While her music is still a niche that many people haven’t been exposed to, some of her songs were instant favourites amongst the crowd. We’ve got to say though, with her music and visuals, she was the perfect choice to open for Skrillex – she just left us wanting more.
Here’s a low-down of the top 10 tracks from Skrillex‘s performances (with a few from Mija thrown in as well)
1. Jack Ü – Take Ü There (feat. Kiesza)

A perfect example of the mellow to crazy transition we were talking about, this song was the debut of Jack Ü – the duo which is made up of Skrillex and Diplo. Against the backdrop of a beautiful evening in all cities, this track was the perfect way to announce Skrillex’s arrival
2. Major Lazer – B2GETHER (MIJA REMIX)

While we’re still talking about the mellow, we must not forget Mija’s remix of Major Lazer’s ‘Together‘. Her remix of the track song was definitely the song which got the maximum cheers from the crowd with them swaying to the lovey-dovey lyrics.
3. Skrillex & The Doors – Breakn a Sweat

Now we are all aware that The Doors no longer exist. But that didn’t stop Skrillex from collaborating with the surviving members of the band, and man, does he take it to another level. Of course with the crowd, the song was a huge hit with people going crazy especially at the pyrotechnics which supported the bass lent by Skrillex to the song. All in all, it was a visual treat.
4. Yogi – Burial ft. Pusha T (Skrillex and Trollphace Remix)

Sometimes you don’t need to know the song but when you see the lyrics at the concert (and when they are as easy as this song’s chorus) you just find yourself yelling them. Used as a perfect turning point of the set by Skrillex, this song got all the people in the crowd chanting.
5. Sir Sly – You Haunt Me (SoySauce Edition)

We absolutely loved this song played by Mija in her set. This song proved that she had excellent timing when it comes to mixing – in the midst of intricate visuals and crazy beats that she was dropping – came this song with beautiful vocals and a mellow drop.
6. Major Lazer & DJ Snake feat. MØ – Lean On

It was no surprise that Skrillex played Lean On and the crowd didn’t complain either. The song itself is kickass and it has gained even more popularity in India since it has been shot here – all in all the crowd was massively happy when the song was played.
7. Skrillex feat. Diplo & G-Dragon & CL – Dirty Vibe

It is no secret that Skrillex and Diplo are absolutely gaga over each other – especially ever since they announced Jack U. Skrillex made it a point to announce that he had a word with Diplo and then went on to play this track, which because of its mad beats got every one shaking.
8. Benny Benassi – Cinema (Skrillex Remix)

Ah, good old times. One of the first songs to put Skrillex on the map of EDM, this song got a rousing chorus from the audience. With their hands in the air, the crowd all sang along as Skrillex played this song.
9. Skrillex with Niki and the Dove – Ease My Mind
Played by Skrillex
A hugely emotional and powerful song, it found the crowd singing at the top of their voices. And when the vocals stopped and Skrillex ‘dropped the bass’, people jumped and the ground literally shook. Definitely one of the crowd favourites from the night!
10. Jack U – Where Are Ü Now (with Justin Bieber)

By the response it received, we can safely say that this song was the most awaited of the night. And clearly, Skrillex couldn’t wait to play it either. In some cities, this song was accompanied by fireworks and party favors as soon as the beat dropped – and you can imagine how that got the crowd going.
