The announcement of first ever Sunburn Weekend at the beautiful city of Daman took the social media by storm. The fans specifically in the state of Gujarat were lacking some serious dance music action because of the obvious reasons. Sunburn did an excellent job in finding out this perfect location for party people and dance music lovers, which is in the reach of the fans from Gujarat and at the same time, it’s not too far from Mumbai. Not only that, but headlined by Sick Individuals, Dannic and Wolfpack and supported by premiere Indian acts like Joshi, Sound Avtar, BREED and Indra J, this event was exactly the big bang that we needed. Due to the elections in Daman, the venue had to be moved to the stadium grounds at Silvassa (Dadra and Nagar Haveli) which is about half an hour journey from the original location of Daman.

With Silvassa’s humid and cloudy weather, the open-air venue of Silvassa stadium grounds was just perfect for the event. After tackling mild traffic, we got to the venue a few minutes before 2 pm. As we entered, final soundchecks, visuals and pyro testings were being done. The stage looked like an LED wall fortress with a splendid setup of lights and lasers. Right behind the front-of-the-house set up, there was a tent with bean bags and cots for the ravers to rest when needed. The stalls by the sponsors, Kingfisher and Smirnoff and fbb were set and ready to go. The Domino’s stall covered for the food requirements and there was also a photo-booth by fbb for people to take funky photos alongside a fun corner by Kingfisher which had games like beer pong and offered beer to the winners. A classic fun bull riding machine was also set up for the attendees to try out their game.

Exactly at 2 pm, the #SpinWithOla winner, Mindbass took to the decks and started to set the vibes for the event with a warm up set. He got people moving by the time he played the Chocolate Puma remix of Bassline by GotSome ft. The Get Along Gang. Soon after him, the well-known name in chillout sector, Indra J took the decks and took to the next level with  the track like Bertie Blackman‘s Town of Sorrow (Mic Newman Remix) and Timmo‘s In My World.

Until now the crowd was moving but was scattered and many were still sitting at the tent and just chit-chatting. The minute Joshi took the stage and opened with Tiesto and Don Diablo‘s latest House tune, “Chemicals“, everybody got together in front of the stage and started jumping and dancing. That was an enormous boost in the energy, but the event was just getting started and it looked very promising. Joshi dropped many big-room tunes like Valentino Khan‘s Deep Down Low, Tiesto and KSHMR‘s Secrets and Alesso’s Remix of the evergreen David Guetta track, Titanium. Joshi also played one of his unreleased track, details on which very soon.

After Joshi, India’s premiere DnB and Dubstep artist, Sound Avtar took the decks and boy was it amazing! Mainstream oriented audience took some time to go crazy on Bass as Sound Avtar took a couple of stops in between to do the whole track again, to  let the crowd improve on the energy. Once it was all set, it was fire! Sound Avtar dropped dope tracks like DJ Snake & Aazar Remix of Dirty Vibe, Knife Party‘s Internet Friends VIP, the recent sensation, Major Lazer and DJ Snake‘s Lean On and Burn Up The Dance off of Dillon Francis‘ recent moombahton EP.

The Bass madness was continued by BREED after Sound Avtar. BREED played full on Future Bass along with some known tunes from time to time. Legs still trembling due to the enormous amount of jumping around, they literally made the crowd sweat.

When BREED completed their set, it was dark already and it was about time for the headliners. As the venue went dark suddenly, the intro kicked in”This. Is. Sick.”, similar to Swedish House Mafia’s “We Come, We Rave, We Love”. With a bang, Sick Individuals came out of the dark and started to take the venue by storm. The stadium boomed with their originals like Made for This, Lost & Found and Wasting Moonlight. Sick Individuals also dropped their famed Axwell collaboration, “I AM” and the remixes of new Axwell Λ Ingrosso tracks. It was a mesmerising experience.

As the clock ticked 8:30, it was time for Dannic! As his intro mix played, Dannic made an entry from nowhere and started bangin’. Dannic played a variety of tracks including live acapella mixes and mashups like his edit of Bynon & Domeno’s Golden Hearts, Valentino Khan’s Deep Down Low, Wait For You, etc. With a backspin, he dropped his latest collaboration with Hardwell, Survivors and soon after that Martin Garrix‘s exclusive remix of The Weeknd’s Cant Feel My Face. During Dannic’s set, he was accompanied by Sick Individuals for the premiere of their new collaboration which made the crowd extra crazy. Dannic ended his set in his signature style, with a hardstyle track.

Due to Wolfpack not being able to make it due to unforeseen circumstances, the set timings of the other artists were stretched accordingly. By 10 pm, Dannic ended his set and attendees were moving out of the venue singing together, full of joy! The event was followed by an after party and there was also a pool party the next day with another group of lineup and Sick Individuals headlining. A big thank you to the Sunburn team for putting together a memorable experience once again for their fans!
