Andrew Bayer is an American DJ / producer from Washington DC. He is known for his unique progressive house productions on Anjunadeep and Anjunabeats.  If you haven’t yet heard of him, this would be one good reason to take notice.

Famous for his flirtatious experiments with Intelligent Dance Music,  he’s probably one of the most concentrated form of genius I’ve ever come across in my short span of living. And on this album, he really pushes the envelope with ingenuity in music making. It’s such a far cry from what we’re used to hearing from him usually, it’s left his critics and fan base stunned with amazement.  This is what his thoughts were about the album:

I try to be as diverse as possible. This is mainly an exercise as a musician, but also a record producer as well.

Echoing label bosses’ Above and Beyond’s fascination with emotionally driven music, it’s got Andrew Bayer’s more personal, vulnerable touch to it. Above & Beyond’s Tony McGuinnes has this to say:

“When I first heard Andrew’s new album I thought “wow, this is different” – he’s certainly not resting on his laurels in any way. And then I listened to it some more and pretty soon it was all I was listening to. On repeat. For hours. It’s the best album I’ve heard in a long time and I’m looking forward to it coming out so I can talk to people about it.“”Gaff’s Eulogy” is, as the name suggests, inspired by Bladerunner. Gaff was the guy who made the origami unicorn that graces the album cover and, at the end of the movie, tells Deckard “You’ve done a man’s job, sir”. And so it is with Andrew. Bravo. Tx”

A 16-track journey through woozy, dreamlike glitch and reflective electronica, Andrew Bayer’s much anticipated second album If It Were You, We’d Never Leave will be available worldwide on Anjunabeats this April 22. In addition, a new video (recently premiered on Billboard.com) for the album’s single ‘Lose Sight‘ has now been released. Directed by the upcoming Polish director Człowiek Kamera, the video is a beautifully artistic and abstract visual interpretation of Bayer‘s emotive sounds.

Without a 4/4 beat in sight, this much-anticipated second album showcases Andrew‘s unique abilities as a truly multitalented producer, following his acclaimed debut album It’s Artificial in both maturity and artistic growth.  Andrew Bayer has been maintaining that this album is alot more personal to him. And it is more than evident that he as a producer, places immense emphasis on emotion as central to his music making process.

As well as heralding Bayer’s coming of age, the album also echoes the broadening horizons of Above & Beyond’s acclaimed Anjunabeats label.

You can preview each track from the album on the Anjunabeat Youtube channel here.

We can’t wait for this wonderful showcase of what artistry in music really is, to be released.
