Kaskade to create soundtrack for EDC 2013 documentary ‘Under the Electric Sky’
Flashback to a few days ago, America’s MVP producer Kaskade was being slightly cryptic with his tweets regarding a huge project he had undertaken, speaking of a movie soundtrack he would be working on, keeping fans’ minds working overtime.
Without further ado, it was just announced that this Grammy nominated artist would be providing the background score for Electric Daisy Carnival’s official documentary titled EDC: Under The Electric Sky. Also joining onboard is KCRW music director Jason Bentley who will assume roles as the music supervisor and musical director for the documentary and soundtrack. Bear in mind, Bentley has also worked for The Matrix trilogy as well as Tron: Legacy along with Daft Punk, so it’s safe to say there’s a whole wealth of experience waiting.
Here’s what Pasqualle Rotella, CEO of Insomniac Events had to say,
“Kaskade and Jason understand the energy and passion that EDC fans bring to the festival. By working together, I’m confident they will create a soundtrack which brings back memories for those that have attended EDC in the past, while also inspiring those who have never joined in the experience.”
The documentary will follow a handful of unique attendees as they seek adventure from near and far off places along with exclusive footage throughout the throngs of people and stages at EDC Las Vegas. Kaskade expressed his eagerness towards this by mentioning, ”EDC has become an American institution, and there’s a tangible power in such a massive shared experience. Translating that intensity into a film score is an undertaking I’m truly looking forward to.”
The release date is tentatively dated in early 2014, we’ll keep you posted!

Kaskade defends electronic music against UMass, stands up against the senseless hypocrisy.
In the wake of UMass’ recent decision to cancel two dance music shows and supposedly ban all dance music related events at the campus “forever”, Kaskade spoke out in defense of the genre. As we all strive to develop and build a scene without a stigma, Kaskade has been the most vocal in defending the music and the culture.
This time around he decided to take to twitter to express his thoughts on the matter. Throughout the long but well presented discourse, Kaskade focuses on the hypocrisy predominant within the general media as well as the general public. He criticizes this recent trend to blanket the problem with an overly simplified cause and reason. He also goes on to point out the hypocrisy related to alcohol and sports related deaths, and urges people to focus on reduction and education, not blindly blaming something they don’t understand.
