Bethesda Hints at Exciting New Developments for Starfield
It appears that Bethesda is starting to hint at new developments for Starfield, as eagle-eyed fans have discovered a cryptic message in a recent video posted on social media to mark the game’s second anniversary.
The video begins quite normally but takes a mysterious turn when the music changes and the visuals distort, suggesting something hidden is being teased.

True to form, the Starfield community quickly decoded the message, rearranging the video frames to reveal the phrase ‘Terran Armada.’ This revelation has sparked a flurry of speculation within the community.
Potential Implications of the ‘Terran Armada’ Tease
The most prevalent theory is that ‘Terran Armada’ could be the title of the much-anticipated second expansion for Starfield. If true, this could indicate a storyline centered around Earth, its former inhabitants, or those still remaining on the planet. Some fans speculate that the expansion might explore themes involving spacecraft that departed Earth long ago, possibly as part of a fleet of generational ships. Others suggest that the Terrans might be a new faction of survivors on Earth, reminiscent of a post-apocalyptic scenario akin to Mad Max.
In the game’s lore, Earth was transformed into a desolate wasteland in 2203 after its magnetosphere failed, leading to the loss of its atmosphere and necessitating a mass human exodus. This catastrophe was indirectly caused by the usage of the Grav Drive technology, which enables faster-than-light travel but also led to severe environmental degradation on Earth.
Alternatively, ‘Terran Armada’ might not be the title of the second DLC but rather an interim update meant to keep players engaged while they wait for the next major expansion.
Regardless of its true nature, the Starfield community is clearly eager for new content, having been left with little more than teasers and minor updates since the game’s launch in 2023.
“We’ve waited 11 months for a three-second screen that changed colors and revealed a few letters of a broken up word (and we’re probably gonna have to wait another 4-6 months for anything more),” a fan commented on Reddit. “We’re beyond starved at this point haha. Next trailer or update of actual substance is gonna hit us fans like a nuke.”
Last month, Bethesda revealed that they were making enhancements to the space travel features in Starfield, aiming to make interplanetary journeys more fulfilling, following insights gleaned from datamined code. These improvements suggest that while travel within a planetary system might become smoother, direct flights from a planet to orbit or between systems may not be supported, unlike in some other space exploration games.

In a recent video, veteran Bethesda developer Tim Lamb shared that the studio is actively developing the space gameplay and that another DLC narrative is in the works. “We have some cool stuff coming up, including free updates and features that players have been requesting, as well as a new DLC story,” he said.
Last month, it was also stated that the second expansion for Starfield and its highly anticipated PlayStation 5 port are now expected in 2026, following the tepid reception of the 2024 ‘Shattered Space’ add-on. Despite the rocky journey, Bethesda remains committed to the Starfield franchise, with further expansions planned.
Since its launch in September 2023, Starfield has attracted 15 million players, even though it hasn’t resonated as strongly as Bethesda’s earlier works like the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series. The community continues to hold out hope for upcoming expansions, buoyed by Bethesda’s assurance of ongoing support and new content.
