The classic 1971 movie “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” continues to be a beloved fixture in children’s cinema, known for its timeless scenes and still-impressive set designs. Starting today, fans who are part of the Lego Insiders program have the unique opportunity to build their own version of the famous chocolate factory complete with chocolate rivers and gumdrop trees, thanks to the newly released Lego Ideas: Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory Set. This set, comprising 2,025 pieces, is priced at $220 and will be available starting September 18 exclusively on Lego’s online store. However, Lego Insiders can place their preorders now. The set will become available to the general public on the same day, and given its expected popularity, it’s advisable to sign up for the Lego Insiders program to secure your set early.
When assembled, the set measures over 20 inches in width and 10 inches in depth, so it’s important to have ample space ready for this impressive model. While primarily aimed at adult builders, the set also includes several minifigures which allow children to engage in creative play by crafting their own stories within the magical factory.
If you haven’t signed up for the Lego Insider program yet, it’s worth noting that it is a free rewards program from Lego. Members gain points on every purchase which can be saved and used to get discounts and other exclusive offers. Other benefits throughout the year include free and discounted bonus sets with online orders. Currently, for instance, Lego Insiders can receive a complimentary Sega Genesis Controller set when they spend $130 or more on eligible products until September 17.
