The beloved British comic, Rogue Trooper, is being transformed into a film, and the initial images from the production have just been released. The film features stars from the hit show “What We Do in the Shadows,” Jemaine Clement and Matt Berry.

The movie is being helmed by Duncan Jones, who is responsible for writing, directing, and producing the feature. Duncan Jones is known for his previous works including “Mute” in 2018, the 2016 epic “Warcraft,” the thriller “Source Code” in 2011, and the critically acclaimed “Moon” in 2009.
A Sneak Peek into the Animated World
The recently released images offer a preview into the animated world of Rogue Trooper. The film employs facial capture technology to animate the characters, adding a layer of realism. Aneurin Barnard stars as the titular character, Rogue Trooper. Jemaine Clement and Matt Berry bring to life Mr. Brass and Mr. Bland, respectively, two scavengers on the battlefield who are sure to provide comedic moments.
Additional images show a massive war vehicle traversing the landscape of Nu Earth, a planet embroiled in a fierce conflict between two factions, the Norts and the Southers. Another image captures two Souther soldiers who appear misplaced and bewildered on the battlefield.
Producer Stuart Fenegan expressed his excitement about the project, noting the high level of detail achieved in the animation, “We are thrilled to give audiences a first look at the film and demonstrate the incredible fidelity with which we’ve translated our actors’ on-set performances into our animated characters. This attention to detail was a critical focus right from the start,” he stated.

Duncan Jones, the director, shared his excitement with a simple yet effective shout: “AHHHHHHHHHHHH! WE’RE ALMOST FINISHED! SEE YOU AT SDCC!!” He is scheduled to make an appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con on July 25.
Plot and Cast of Rogue Trooper
The narrative centers around 19, a ‘Genetic Infantryman,’ who is the lone survivor of his invasion squad. Driven by the need to find the traitor who betrayed him and his comrades, 19 is not alone; he carries with him the digital personalities of three fallen squad mates, stored in his gun, helmet, and backpack.
The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Hayley Atwell, Jack Lowden, Daryl McCormack, Reece Shearsmith, Diane Morgan, Alice Lowe, Asa Butterfield, and Sean Bean alongside Aneurin Barnard, Clement, and Berry.
While the debut images have heightened anticipation, a release date for the film has yet to be announced.
