The gaming world has been flooded with new releases recently, making it difficult for individual titles to stand out. However, in a refreshing twist, the creators of two RPGs that launched in the same timeframe are highlighting and supporting each other’s games to their respective audiences.
As reported by GamesRadar, Kazutaka Kodaka, the mind behind Danganronpa and co-director of the new game The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, celebrated a significant achievement in his game before also promoting another popular RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Kodaka was quoted as saying, “Once you’ve completed Expedition 33, this cult favorite from Japan will be here waiting for you!”
Kodaka continued to express his admiration for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in another update, emphasizing the innovative approaches both games bring to their genres. He remarked, “Expedition 33 pays a brilliant homage to the classic JRPG, whereas Hundred Line brings a unique flavor of a cult Japanese VN & SRPG. Both are worth your time!”

The team at Sandfall Interactive, developers of Expedition 33, responded to Kodaka’s endorsements. The game’s creative director, Guillaume Broche, shared a message:
“After your journey with Expedition, dive into The Hundred Line, another stellar turn-based RPG that launched recently, crafted with passion by a dedicated team. There are simply too many excellent RPGs releasing concurrently these days!”
A note from Guillaume Broche, @SandfallGames Creative Director:
After your Expedition, check out The Hundred Line, another great turn-based RPG that was also released last week, and made with love by an awesome team.

Kodaka followed up with further praise for Expedition 33:
“Thank you!!!! And for those who’ve just concluded their school adventures—it’s time to embark on an expedition! Expedition 33 represents the future of RPGs. With such unique offerings available simultaneously, now is an ideal time to explore and savor the diversity of the RPG landscape.”
According to SteamDB, an overwhelming number of games have been released on Valve’s PC platform this year—over 6,000 in 2025 alone, with last year seeing more than 18,000 new games. These staggering numbers make it increasingly challenging for games, even those created by renowned developers, to capture the attention of players amidst a sea of options.
It is therefore quite heartening to see game creators not only recognize but also actively promote each other’s work, encouraging gamers to explore a variety of titles. This collaborative spirit is especially significant in an industry where competition for players’ time is fierce.
Both Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy are now available, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch respectively. If you’re nearing the end of one, perhaps it’s time to start the other.
