Kim Kardashian affair behind the scenes of a 9 million euro robbery

A spectacular robbery in the City of Lights

On the night of October 3, 2016, Paris became the scene of an event worthy of the greatest Hollywood films. World-famous reality TV star Kim Kardashian finds herself the victim of a daring robbery in her hotel suite in the 8th arrondissement. The damage was colossal: 9 million euros worth of jewelry was stolen, including an engagement ring valued at 4 million euros.

Behind the scenes of a meticulously  attack

The operation, carried out by criminals disguised as police officers, reveals meticulous preparation. Taking advantage of the absence of the star’s personal bodyguard, the robbers neutralized the receptionist before targeting their victim.

Kim Kardashian, bound and gagged in her bathtub, experiences moments of terror as assailants seize her most precious jewels.

A team of “grandad robbers” with methods from another

The investigation reveals a surprising reality: the perpetrators of the “heist of the century” are far from being modern professionals.

Led by Aomar Aït Khedache, known as “Aomar le Vieux”, the gang was made up of aging criminals with picturesque nicknames: “Nez Râpé”, “Yeux Bleus”, “Le Gros”. Their average age of 65 earned them the media nickname of “papys braqueurs”.

An investigation with  twists

Investigations reveal a disorganized network with an amateurish approach to loot management. Sums of money were found in unlikely hiding places, such as a vegetable bin.

While two diamonds have been located in the USA, the famous engagement ring has yet to be found, deemed “unsaleable” by the criminals themselves.

Towards a  legal outcome

April 28, 2025 marks the opening of the trial before the Paris Assize Court. Ten defendants, including one woman, had to answer for their actions. Time has taken its toll: some of the defendants are ill, others in wheelchairs.

Marceau Baum-Gartner, alias “Nez Râpé”, never attended his trial, having died a few weeks before the hearing.

Conclusion

This case, which made international headlines, illustrates the striking contrast between the glamour of the jet-set and the traditional methods of French banditry.

It will go down in history as one of the most high-profile robberies in recent history, combining global fame and the “old school” of Parisian organized crime.
