Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye recently unveiled the debut trailer for his new film, Hurry Up Tomorrow, which coincidentally shares its title with his latest album. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the movie features a cast that includes Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and The Weeknd himself. The trailer presents a gripping montage of enigmatic incidents involving the main characters, with The Weeknd portraying a version of himself. Below, you can watch the trailer and see some stills from the movie.
The album Hurry Up Tomorrow was released last week and is described as the concluding installment of The Weeknd’s most recent trilogy. This series began with After Hours in 2020 and was followed by Dawn FM in 2022. The latest album boasts singles like “Timeless” and “São Paulo,” and features collaborations with artists such as Lana Del Rey, Justice, Giorgio Moroder, Future, Florence and the Machine, and Travis Scott.
This past Sunday, The Weeknd surprised audiences with an unexpected performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards. He took the stage to perform the track “Cry for Me” from Hurry Up Tomorrow, alongside Playboi Carti, marking an end to his prolonged boycott of the Recording Academy.
This summer, The Weeknd is set to embark on a stadium tour to promote his new album. He will be joined by Playboi Carti for this leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour.
In promotional materials, Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan are seen immersively portraying their respective characters in stills that capture the intense mood of the film. The images, provided by Andrew Cooper of Lionsgate, include scenes featuring Jenna Ortega as Anima and Barry Keoghan alongside The Weeknd, adding depth to the visual storytelling of the upcoming movie.
