‘Stranger Things’ Star Joe Keery’s Sci-Fi Comedy ‘Cold Storage’ Lands at Samuel Goldwyn Films, First Look Unveiled (EXCLUSIVE)

Samuel Goldwyn Films has secured the North American distribution rights for Studiocanal’s science fiction comedy, “Cold Storage.” A sneak peek of the film has also been released.

The movie features a strong cast including Joe Keery from “Stranger Things,” Georgina Campbell of “Barbarian,” and Sosie Bacon from “Smile.” The ensemble is further bolstered by seasoned actors such as Vanessa Redgrave of “Mission: Impossible,” Lesley Manville from “Phantom Thread,” and Liam Neeson, known for his role in “Taken.”

Directed by Jonny Campbell, known for his work on “Dracula,” the script is penned by seasoned writer David Koepp, who adapted it from his own novel. Koepp’s previous screenwriting credits include major hits like “Jurassic Park” and “Mission: Impossible,” and more recently, “Presence.” The film is produced by Gavin Polone, recognized for his work on “Zombieland” and “Panic Room,” in collaboration with Koepp.

The narrative centers around Teacake (played by Keery) and Naomi (Campbell), who work at a self-storage facility situated on a decommissioned military base. Their routine night shift turns into a horrific ordeal when a parasitic fungus, sealed by the government in the facility’s subterranean levels, breaks free. As the temperature climbs, the organism begins exerting its mind-controlling and destructive powers, endangering everything in its vicinity. The pair must collaborate with an experienced bioterrorism agent (Neeson) to prevent a potential global catastrophe.

“Continuing our partnership with Studiocanal and taking on this exciting film from David Koepp, Jonny Campbell, and Gavin Polone is something we’re very pleased about,” stated Peter Goldwyn and Ben Feingold, president and CEO of Samuel Goldwyn Films, respectively.

Samuel Goldwyn Films is planning a nationwide theatrical release for “Cold Storage” later in the year.

The deal for the acquisition was finalized by Miles Fineburg of Samuel Goldwyn Films, with the negotiation team from Studiocanal comprising Chloe Marquet (head of international sales), Charlotte Lopez (senior VP of international sales), and Sophie Leuthreau (head of business and legal affairs international distribution).
