New Memoir by Budgie, Iconic Drummer of Siouxsie and the Banshees
Peter Edward Clarke, widely recognized by his stage name Budgie, the celebrated drummer for Siouxsie and the Banshees, has unveiled his upcoming memoir titled The Absence. This work delves into his experiences during the pivotal post-punk period of the late 1970s and early 1980s in Britain, highlighting his collaborations with bands such as the Slits and Big in Japan, alongside his time with the Banshees. The narrative also explores his personal life, including his marriage to and subsequent divorce from Siouxsie Sioux. The memoir is scheduled for release on June 5th by White Rabbit Publishing.
In a recent press statement, Budgie shared his thoughts on the process of writing this memoir: “Caught between action and denial, the journey to recollect, revisit, and write was both traumatic and healing. The thought of being published is nothing short of terrifying! I braced for apologies and expected dismissal, but was met mostly with love, understanding, and kindness. For those still pained by the past, I offer my empathy and a prayer. It is through presenting my own errors that I hope to learn, and help others evade similar mistakes.”
