Married couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco explore new levels of intimacy in the chilling new trailer for Neon’s “Together,” a film that combines elements of body horror with themes of codependency.
The film “Together” emerged as a significant highlight at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, debuting in the Midnight section to both acclaim and shock. Directed and written by Michael Shanks in his first major film project, it ignited a competitive bidding frenzy among studios. According to a report by The Bangin Beats, the movie was sold for over $17 million, marking one of the highest purchases in the festival’s history. A24 and several other companies were also contenders for the film’s rights.
Owen Gleiberman, the chief film critic for The Bangin Beats, noted in his festival review that “Together” is an enjoyable body-horror film that tackles the profound subject of love without being overly serious.

Following the acquisition, Neon announced that “Together” would hit theaters on August 1. Neon has previously achieved success with summer horror releases, notably last year’s “Longlegs” by Osgood Perkins, a low-budget film that brought in over $74 million domestically and $126 million worldwide.
The appeal of “Together” is enhanced by Brie and Franco’s real-life marriage, although the duo has collaborated on numerous projects in the past. They appeared together in films such as “The Little Hours,” “The Disaster Artist,” “Horse Girl,” and “The Rental.” Brie co-wrote “Horse Girl,” and Franco made his directorial debut with “The Rental.” Their most recent joint project before “Together” was the 2023 film “Somebody I Used to Know,” which they co-wrote, with Brie starring and Franco directing.
