Beirut, the artistic endeavor led by Zach Condon, has unveiled plans for a new album. Drawing inspiration from the German novel Verzeichnis einiger Verluste by Judith Schalansky, the album titled A Study of Losses features 18 tracks and was created specifically for an acrobatic performance by the Swedish circus troupe, Kompani Giraff. The album includes the previously released single “Caspian Tiger” and introduces a new track, “Guericke’s Unicorn,” which debuts today along with its music video that showcases choreography, puppetry, and set design by Kompani Giraff. You can watch the video below.
The album A Study of Losses is scheduled for release on April 18 through Pompeii Records. Condon’s most recent album under the Beirut moniker, titled Hadsel, was released in November 2023.
