2016 has been a monumental year for Flume. Fresh off the recent success off his sophomore album “Skin” which found major acclaim from the critics and listeners alike, the Aussie heavyweight continues to tour extensively around the globe performing at festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza and more.

And now, just in case if you had queries related to new music from the one and only Harley Streten, the man recently sat down with In The Mix for an in-depth interview where he talked about a potential third album and dished out initial bits of details to maintain the hype.

Talking about his future productions, Flume said that he would like to focus on more sample-based records, now that he has already put out massive tunes packing in stadium-sized grandiose.

“Now that I’ve put Skin out, I’m like… awesome! I’ve done my big, grandiose, clean record, with lots of big sawtooth sounds. Now I’m kind of bored of it, and I want to do lots of more sample-based stuff, like actual world sounds. So, like, maybe a vocal that’s been recorded and make it into a chord.”

Moreover, the “Never Be Like You” hitmaker also discussed how his focus would like to shift to more lo-fi oriented sounds and how he wants his future productions to move forward in a way that it stays in contrast with his earlier work.

“I kinda want to go a little more lo-fi, I guess. But that’s how it works – you get excited about one thing, then you go to the opposite for a bit. . . I mean, a fucking Skrillex bassline – 30 years ago, that shit wasn’t around, it didn’t exist. Like, what the hell! We have these tools, and if I can mess around, create crazy sounds and get excited about that, that’s the inspiration for a song.”

And if you were craving for more details, Harley also went on to throw shade at his excitement to collaborate with fellow producers having already aced his craft with top-notch tunes made possible with several vocalists who featured on his sophomore LP.

“I kinda feel like I’ve done a lot of vocal collaborations, and right now I’m excited about collaborating with other producers.”

As we kick-off our countdown to hear new music from Flume in the near future, listen to “Skin” below and stay tuned for further updates!
