Before we begin, the question which stands is how much bass is too much bass? This past weekend, Bassnectar hosted his inaugural Bass Center Festival in Commerce City, Colorado. A massive two-day event curated by the dance music veteran himself saw performances by the likes of Porter Robinson, Wu-Tang Clan, Flying Lotus and many more.

While the event turned out to be a raging success, a stadium sized production which took over Dick’s Sporting Goods Park caused the neighbors living “close by” to lash out due to the excessive noise levels which reached their ears. And as resident Joe Quillin says: “I thought it was an earthquake. I looked and realized it was bass.” Also another such person Scott Wilson said that his entire house shook and further commented that: “We have to be neighbors and friendly neighbors. This was not a friendly event.”

As per Commerce City Mayor Sean Ford, while they had not researched about Lorin’s music, he defended the issue of the permit saying that the most stringent ordinances were imposed and also that the event limited itself within the noise thresholds.
