With tremendous amount of artists joining the vast community of electronic dance music, it is certainly no more a cake walk to make a visible standing in the scene. While Essex based progressive house duo Third Party have let their music do all the talking and in no time have reached heights rarely anyone could. Childhood friends turned accomplished studio buddies Jonnie Macaire and Harry Bass collectively form Third Party, an act that is one of the most sought after today. As we announce the young producers our Artist Of the Month for May, let us take you down their high-rise journey of steep success involving timeless contribution in terms of quality music to the progressive house scene.
Third Party’s breakout offering ‘Release’ on Size Records is one that is quite possibly known by everyone who knows about them. An essential first calling card onto worldwide dance floors, the superb house production stayed on charts for a long time and even in-fact opened the doors for the duo to work alongside legend Steve Angello. Around this time, the duo’s remix of Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Save The World’ had already been making good waves, and the following year saw ‘Lights’ with Size bossman himself after which there was no looking back. The havoc that it made on worldwide mainstage dance floors remains still a thing to remember.
2013 saw Third Party getting big on remix duties as they delivered a spectacular remix for American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘Otherside’ on Warne Bros. Records, and the following year for Sigma’s ‘Nobody To Love’. It wasn’t just the time for great remixes as the duo also had smashed the floors out with their single ‘Everyday Of My Life’ as well. It’s well-crafted break and build that preface the punchy kick-driven drop still outshines many in the same category.
The flow had been achieved and so were the top-notch production skills, hence the last year turned out be genuinely the year for Third Party. With back to back hit productions on their own label Release Records like ‘Alive’, ‘Collide’ feat. Daniel Gidlund, ‘Arrival’ and ‘Waiting’, and a splendid private remix treatment for tropical house superstar Kygo’s ‘Firestone’, last few months couldn’t be any more fortunate.
While the groundwork had been overwhelming on their own label, last year also marked the return of the duo on Size Records for Nation EP. Including two of their full-of-passion and emotionally charged tunes ‘Power’ and ‘Nation (Rise Again)’, the package stood an essential one and out-standing in their innovative catalogue of releases.
As Third Party aim for a future of full ownership of their sound on a global scale, leading with a seal of quality and showing where dance music can still be given a unique spin, we have to say they are an unmissable act of the current dance music landscape. Catch the duo play live alongside Steve Angello, Arty and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano to name a few, at DLDK India that will take place on May 27th at the NSCI Stadium in Mumbai.
