A Bigger & Better Atmasphere Midst The Vineyards At SulaFest 2016

Sulafest

It comes as no surprise that SOMA Project is making its way back to SulaFest, for the 2016 edition. Every year, they curate the Atmasphere stage of the two-day festival for people who drift away from the main stage or aren’t into live music. SulaFest’16 is back with a bigger and better Atmasphere than ever ever before – this year shifted to midst the vineyards to tune into #TheRhythmOfTheVines as they say! From mammoths like Edu Imbernon to SOMA Project regulars like Sashanti, the techno side of SulaFest is as diverse as it gets when it comes to artist selection. To know exactly what’s in store for you as you enter the Atmasphere stage, read on to find out more about the artists and their music:

1. Edu Imbernon

Edu-Imbernon1

This Spanish prodigy last came to India in 2013, and this year is one of the headlining acts at the Atmasphere stage. Breaking into the scene with his remix of ‘Crystalised‘ by The XX, Edu Imbernon has been on a meteoric rise since. Frequent collaborations with the likes of Coyu and releases on his own imprint Elektisch have ensured his place as one of techno’s better known artists. This remix for Stephan Bodzin’s ‘Wir‘ with longtime ally Coyu will ensure you don’t miss his set at SulaFest.

2. Bono Goldbaum

Bono Goldbaum

This one and a half hour mix by the talented Austrian should give you an idea of what’s in store for you.

3. Luna City Express

Old-school synth sounds, foley work and complicated grooves: that’s how you describe the Luna City Express sound on the first go. The German duo of Norman Weber and Marco Resmann have been around for a good 10 years as Luna City Express. Norman was influenced by his musician father as he accompanied him on tour. Their tracks contain influences of hip-hop, disco and synth-pop, making for a very vintage vibe while still adapting to the tastes of the 21st century. LCE is a definitely a prized addition to the diverse SulaFest lineup. Listen to their most recent EP here:

For someone born in the unofficial party capital of the world, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Djamal Fateh is a DJ. The Ibiza-born DJ plays tech house under the O-BE moniker, while also maintaining a psytrance alias called DJamal. His debut gig in his hometown was at the age of 15, and needless to say, he has toured all of Ibiza. O-BE is also a certified audio engineer. While he has now shifted base to Amsterdam, he hasn’t slowed down in any way. Watch out for his set at SulaFest!

5. Rik Watts

Rik Watts was a member of the Dutch Navy when he was 17, and that enabled him to travel the world and explore new places and sounds. He has a residency at Magistrat in his hometown The Hague, along with releases on labels like Lowendcommunity and Phat Elephant. The diversity in his sounds is vast and you’ll agree! It’s hard to imagine an Atmasphere lineup without this guy. Sashanti has made his presence felt at multiple SulaFest editions, and he will do so this year too. Sashanti is an artist in his own way, having displayed his skills as a DJ, producer, journalist, photographer and writer. Ever since he made Goa his home in 2004, Sashanti has been at the forefront of Goa’s (and the country’s) ever-expanding house music scene, performing on the main stage at several festivals, including SulaFest. His version of house is trippy, hypnotic and moody, and he is definitely a must-see act at the festival.

It’ll be interesting to see what the djembe player brings to the Atmasphere stage.

9. WA-TEC

WA-TEC

WA-TEC is the darker, groovier side of famous Indian DJ duo Whosane+Anastasia. Having played at multiple clubs and festivals around the country, they’re bringing their hypnotic side to SulaFest this year. Their productions have been featured on various labels, Soup Herb Records being one of them.
