If you haven’t been living under a rock, you must be aware about the copyright infringement lawsuit which has been slapped on Skrillex and Justin Bieber for jacking a vocal riff from indie artist White Hinterland‘s hit record ‘Ring The Bell‘ for their own track ‘Sorry’. Also, the singer, real name Casey Dienel, had warned Bieber back in December which was met with nothing but ignorance. Before launching down a case against the two mega artists, she also issued a lengthy statement on Facebook.
Now with more than twenty four hours already gone by, Skrillex has issued a major statement and before we go on to cloud your judgement, hear us out. Sonny, who co-produced the massive record put out a video on social media where he explains how the vocal sample was created with the help of an accapella recorded by a singer named Julia Michaels and might have just won back the confidence of his fans showing how the vocals didn’t belong to Casey’s in the first place.
While on the other hand, TMZ caught up with Diplo as well to weigh in on the matter who talked about how he wasn’t involved with the record at all and assumed that some writer may have added it which wasn’t cleared out with other people involved. Also, he ends his statement saying “I’m sure they’ll work out a deal with her. They don’t want to go to court with it.” You can check out the brief interview below and let us know what do you feel given we have all three responses out of which Sonny’s looks incredibly convincing!
