Triple J Unveil Annual Hottest 100 List For 2015!

It’s about that time when Australian radio station Triple J present listeners with their annual Hottest 100 List which rounds up the hottest tracks of the year voted upon by the audience themselves. Now taking in the fact of how flawed the term of “voting” is in our electronic music community, I can safely say that Triple J have crafted themselves as being genuine and legit over the years. Moreover, The ‘Triple J’s Hottest 100’ features a diverse and eclectic mix of music that sets itself apart from the mainstream, yet is compatible to the taste of a purist and the average party goer. The list which was revealed yesterday (January 26) as part of the grand Australia Day celebrations even managed to break the record with 2 million votes cast by almost 300 k people in 172 countries.

Bagging the top slot for 2015 was native alt. rock band The Rubens for their song “Hoops”. Nonetheless, electronic music made its presence felt with several tracks rounding up the countdown. The highest entry for dance music was at #3 made possible by Major Lazer & DJ Snake‘s colossal track, “Lean On”. The list is furthermore stacked with several other A-list electronic acts with Hermitude peaking at #8 for his track “The Buzz” while Disclosure‘s collaborative single “Magnets” with Lorde rounded up the Top 10. Top Australian export Flume cemented his place with two tracks, “Some Minds”(#24) and “Gemini”(#90) with his former dual act What So Not. Major Lazer made further appearances with their tracks “Powerful”(#74) and “Be Together”(#98) while DJ Snake made a mark with his recent single “Middle” at #17. Legendary electronic act The Chemical Brothers were a favorite amongst the fans as well popping in at #46 with their single “Go”.
