Imagine this:

The stars in your vision finally begin to clear out, as the crisp rays of the Sun hit your eyes, forcing them open. You finally arise to consciousness, but you can barely move. You fumble and look around, only to find mounds of sand stretched across till the horizon. The realization dons upon you that you in fact lay in a desert, all by yourself, stranded. You try to make sense of the situation but your throat is parched and all you can think about is quenching your thirst. Thus begins your ultimate quest- ‘The Quest To Survive The Desert’.

To help you out in this journey, we at Bangin Beats, have created a Desert survival guide that surprisingly involves 3 days of maddening fun and an enchanting musical experience! Start taking notes:

1. Finding Shelter– underneath the scorching sun, there is only so much heat that your body can bear, which makes it is imperative to find a place for shade. However if you do not have a sand dune, a big rock or a palm tree in vicinity, and you happen to be stuck in one of the Deserts of Rajasthan, all you have to do is tread your path to Alsisar where the most awaited music festival of the year, “Magnetic Fields” is taking place from the 18th to the 20th of December!

2. Survival equipment– the bare essentials to survive the desert include:

-Sturdy blankets
-A first aid kit
-A dust mask, water thermos
-Water purifying tablets, a knife
-A compass
-A signal mirror
-A powerful flashlight
But if you’re going to be at the Magnetic Fields Festival, all you’d need to get by is some good vibes.

3. Survival tactics
Clothing– Planning your clothing, although seems like a trivial task, is one of the key strategies to carry through the Desert. It is important to wear clothes that minimize water loss through precipitation during the day. Wear lightweight and comfortable fabric that lets you stay active. During the night, cover it all up with fleece or woolen clothing to protect yourself from the nighttime temperature dip.

• Staying Hydrated– Be it a desert or a music festival, hydration is crucial. With all the rigorous activity, you may not realize in time that your body is depleted off fluids. Staying aware and drinking fluids after small breaks not only keeps you replenished with necessary salts but also helps you perform better.

• Keeping calm– The desert can take a toll on your physical as well as your mental strength. It’s therefore vital to find ways to restore balance. Luckily, the good folks at the Magnetic Fields Festival are hosting morning yoga sessions with Namrata Sudhindra to take care of that for you.

• Being watchful– stay alert for the slightest change in the weather. Look out for sandstorms and if you see one approaching, cover your face with a cloth to prevent the dust from entering your lungs. However, if you’ve made it to Magnetic Fields, you’ve also got to watch out for the performances by the freshest music acts, secret parties, magnificent art illustrations and hidden treasures!

• Planning ahead-It is easy for one to lose track of time and space in this quest. Creating and improvising your next plan of action keeps you focused and determined. Also make sure to check out this link to plan your festival itinerary.

• Never giving up– remember, there are no coincidences in life. Now that you’re in this, might as well get an adventure out of it! Do not lose hope, stay strong and keep moving forward.

So now that you’ve noted down our desert survival tips, it’s worth trying them out this December at the Magnetic Fields! With a lineup that would make your heart melt, the festival brings to the table a lot more than a musical experience. The 3rd edition promises a spiritual adventure with the theme “as the Bedouins traverse through the five elements” – Earth or ‘prithvi'; water or ‘jal'; fire or agni; air or ‘vayu’ and then aether or ‘akasha.’
