Halloween is a very new concept to India. It has been quite the tradition in the West, and we’re not shy to follow suit. Halloween, or Hallowe’en; (a contraction of “All Hallows’ Evening”), also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows’ Eve, or All Saints’ Eve, is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints(hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed believers.
Over the years, from just paying homage to the dead, aspects of pop culture, like dressing up as celebrities, movie or comic characters, also came into being. It is this very tradition, that is slowly taking shape in cities across our country. That’s where Regenerate comes in. They’re putting together one of the largest Halloween parties (in terms of scale) that Mumbai has ever seen, with elaborate production, decor and an absolutely stellar musical line up.
Apart from the 3 international headliners, viz., Russ Yallop, Greg Pidcock and Sunju Hargun, they’ve also tons of stars on the Indian scene as well, from Ankytrixx, Audio Units, Bullzeye, Arsh and many many more.
Bangin Beats caught up with some of the homegrown talent on the line up, and decided to ask them a few fun questions, that probably embodies the spirit of Halloween. Read their responses below:

TBB: What is your biggest fear?
To lose the ones we love is always my biggest fear
TBB: If you could be anyone for a day on Halloween, who would it be?
Ideally, would love to be the invisible man. Trying to sort a cloak from the Hogwarts!
TBB: What is the scariest track you’ve ever heard?
Nothing scares me except snakes. But talking about tracks, Fever Ray is pretty dark, really nostalgic .. Mysterious. Some people may call it scary

Fear of not being able to change
TBB: If you could be anyone for a day on Halloween, who would it be?
I’d love to be Batman, complete with the entire costume and all his gear. I’d love to drive the Batmobile or fly the Batwing.
TBB: What is the scariest track you’ve ever heard?
“Jihad of Islam” by Iron madness. Had some really bad experiences while listening to that track for the first time.

My biggest fear would be losing my hearing.
TBB: If you could be anyone for a day on Halloween, who would it be?
I would love to be a synthesizer.

Right now, for me, everything on the beatport electrohouse/progressive house chart is scary.

The negativity all around the world. It’s reached a point where it is actually frightening.
TBB: If you could be anyone for a day on Halloween, who would it be?
Jack Sparrow. Because he’s absolutely bonkers. I love crazy people, they’re the most interesting.
TBB: What is the scariest track you’ve ever heard?
Mirror Me (Dark Dub) by Maceo Plex. The samples and modulation that go along with vocals are pretty creepy.

TBB: What is your biggest fear?
Going to Jail or anywhere I can’t take my pets. I can’t live without them.
TBB: If you could be anyone for a day on Halloween, who would it be?
Darth Vader. Because I’ve always wanted to be a part of the darkside.

Music doesn’t scare me at all.

Falling off the Pier and drowning. I wouldn’t want to go overboard.

I would want to dress up as Loopkin.

Deadbeat – Third Quarter (The Vampire Of Mumbai) Because it reminds me of a really long after after after after party. The kind that ended on Wednesday after a party that happened on Saturday.

Samara From The Ring.

Love Your Illusion – Eric Volta. It sounds like a track that would start playing as soon as I die.
Qwiver / Blurry Slur
TBB: What is your biggest fear?
Being stranded in an elevator or even worse, being in a room without air conditioning. Also, most reptiles scare the living daylights out of me, especially snakes!
TBB: If you could be anyone for a day on Halloween, who would it be?
The adams family characters are the coolest spooky peeps ever in my opinion! So one of them maybe. Got another prominent person in mind to dress up as for Halloween By The Pier this year. Not gonna disclose who that is just yet, guess you will have to come by to see that one!
TBB: What is the scariest track you’ve ever heard?
I play techno and deep-house these days, but growing up we listened to loads of dark psychedelic music, which was extremely scary, for obvious reasons!

My biggest fear is fear itself.

Hannibal Lector. (From Silence of The Lambs) Cause he’s awesome. He has serious bad ass Swag.

Estoro by Lucrecia Dalt. Because it’s so minimalistic and sinister.
