Now, without further adieu dive in to read up on our track-by-track review of the album now!
1. Live For The Night
The opening track on the album does an amazing job of showcasing Krewella‘s ability to seamlessly blend uplifting synths with heavy basslines, which is one factor that really sets them apart from most other artists in the bass music scene.
2. We Go Down
One listen of “We Go Down” should be more than enough to put any concerns to rest that the Krew had abandoned their roots in grimy bass music to rest. The chopped vocals and heavy, yet melodic basslines in the chorus give the track that classic Krewella sound that fans have been yearning for more of ever since their Play Hard EP debuted last summer.
3. Come & Get It
The first time you hear this track, you’re certainly blown away. A drum’n’bass/drumstep spin gives it tremendous amount of energy and so it comes as no surprise that the Krew have made this track their weapon of choice to close their sets on multiple occasions recently.
4. Enjoy The Ride
“Enjoy The Ride” is a potential anthem that perfectly embodies the journey that Krewella has been through leading up to the release of this album and the journey this album takes you on. This track is all about living in and for the moment. The uplifting synths, piano embellishments, and sweeping orchestral parts, when combined with Jahan and Yasmine’s noteworthy vocals, make for one of the most beautiful and inspiring tracks Krewella has every released.
5. We Are One
“We Are One” may be likened to Hardwell and W&W’s productions thanks to its captivating big-room sound. The manner in which Krewella take the sub-kick plus horn-like synths formula and put their own little spin on the track definitely makes for some enjoyable listening.
6. Dancing With The Devil ft. Patrick Stump and Travis Barker
This track makes you think of the Krew as a modern incarnation of 90s punk/rock bands with a bit of a twist. Hence it’s only fitting that they brought in Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy and Travis Barker from Blink 182 to collaborate on the track. This tune is one of the heaviest on the album and should be more than enough to please all the bass-heads out there.
7. Alive
One of the reasons, Krewella first gained a large following was this chart topper. The biggest statement the trio seem to be trying to make with “Alive”, and the album as a whole, is that they refuse to be pigeonholed into any one genre; they want to show the world that they can do it at all and do it better than anyone else in the scene. This track has banger written all over it!
8. Pass The Love Around
It seems that the trio wanted to do something different with this one. This track continues to grow on the listener the more you listen to it. The vocals really shine through on this track, especially in the bridge right after the second chorus. Both, Jahan and Yasmine sound gorgeously organic on the track. This track proves to be as good on your headphones as it is in a club setting.
9. Ring of Fire
The ominous piano chords, tight drums, and Yasmine and Jahan’s powerhouse vocals serve as the driving force throughout the verses on this track. The drop has a sort of hardstyle feel to it which makes this track a little different to the rest.
10. Human
This track is a certified monster and is sure to give the listener goosebumps. The tune is definitely very different from their traditional more aggressive style of dubstep and the Krew have done an incredible job showing us that bass music has a softer, melodic, and more emotional side to it. The way the basslines and acoustic/electric guitar parts seamlessly blend together with Yasmine and Jahan’s vocals makes for one of the most beautiful soundscapes you would’ve heard recently.
11. Killin’ It
“Killin’ It” was the first Krewella track ever heard for many of us, when it came out on Monstercat in the beginning of 2012 and it got a number of people instantly hooked on to the trio’s signature blend of sensual female vocals and gut-wrenching basslines that make for some of the most #bangin tracks known to man.
12. This Is Not The End ft. Pegboard Nerds
When Krewella come together with Pegboard Nerds, some mysterious forces seem to work their magic and they always end up with something truly incredible! Released a little before the release of the album as a free download, the track has got a number of dance music fans hooked on to it ever since its release. Jahan and Yasmine’s voices, which are reminiscent of female punk/rock vocals from the 90’s, combined with Pegboard Nerds patented aggressive, yet funky basslines, makes for an incredibly devastating tune that is destined to destroy dance floors across the world.
If you purchase the full album it comes with two bonus tracks, “Lights and Thunder” ft. globally renowned producer Gareth Emery and the acoustic version of the “Enjoy The Ride”. These tracks are both incredible but you’re going to have to buy the full album if you want to experience them for yourself! Make sure you listen to the album all the way through the first time because it takes you on a journey across so many different genres and emotions; this album has something for everyone and every mood.
