The whole of India has been in a frenzy ever since videos and images of Chris Martin playing an impromptu set at Summerhouse Cafe in Delhi last night went viral. The Internet has been abuzz with guesses and predictions about the band’s upcoming India tour or them being a part of NH7 Weekender‘s lineup. While all these theories definitely have us excited, the real reason why Chris Martin is in India is completely different.
The Coldplay frontman was in India accompanying Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto for the The Global Poverty Project, a non-profit organisation that is working towards ending extreme poverty by 2030. Both Chris Martin and Freida Pinto are ambassadors for Global Citizen and the project.

Now, we’re pretty sure that Chris Martin might be aware of the entire buzz he’s managed to create all over India with just an impromptu gig. Imagine the hype when Coldplay actually do announce an India tour. We certainly believe that India is ready for a Coldplay tour, and why not? A majority of us have grown up listening to Coldplay, and watching the band live would be an absolute dream come true. So here’s hoping for an announcement for a Coldplay India tour soon!
