
One of the most synonymous names with drum & bass in today’s electronic music scene, Rudimental have created quite the niche for themselves. The 4 piece UK drum & bass act have risen to prominence in the last couple of years, with their single ‘Feel The Love’ with John Newman topping the UK Singles charts, which also got them nominated for a BRIT Award in 2013. The group hasn’t looked back since.
Consisting of Piers Agget, Amir Amor, Kesi Dryden and DJ Locksmith (Leon Rolle), the four knew each other since childhood, growing up on the same street and even attending the same school and named the band Rudimental after a the book named ‘Book of Rudiments‘.
2011 saw the band release their first ever single ‘Deep In The Valley’ in March, featuring MC Shantie on vocal duties, and then another one in June, titled ‘Speeding’ featuring Adiyam.

The period between 2012 and 2014 turned out to be very essential for the band, as it saw them releasing quite some new material from their upcoming debut studio album. February of 2012 saw them release the debut single ‘Spoons’ from the upcoming album ‘Home’. The single featured MNEK, and received considerable airplay. That further on saw a barrage of releases from Rudimental, with singles such as ‘Feel The Love’ with John Newman, ‘Not Giving In‘ featuring Alex Clare being released in 2012, while singles ‘Hell Could Freeze’ featuring Angel Haze, and ‘Waiting All Night’ featuring Ella Eyre saw the light of the day in 2013, before the album Home was finally released in April, 2013, receiving critical acclaim from critics everywhere. As well as touring extensively across UK, Europe, Australia and the USA, the band were invited to perform at Made in America Festival in Philadelphia by Jay Z’s record label Roc Nation.
Coming into 2014, they released their next single ‘Powerless’ featuring vocalist Becky Hill in February, 2014. The years also saw them being nominated for the Best British Single at the BRIT Awards, where they performed alongside Bastille, mashing up ‘Pompeii’ and ‘Waiting All Night’. Rudimental were also involved in the production of Ed Sheeran’s single ‘Bloodstream’ from the latter’s album ‘x’, which was then reworked by the band, to a more heavier sound, which will be the debut single off of their new album ‘We The Generation’, due to be released on 18th September 2015.
The band is known for their unmatched energy on stage, with an impeccable stage presence, which can be rarely matched by any other act. Returning to India for the second time after their appearance at Emerge Festival in Bangalore in late February this year, while the performance in Delhi was cancelled due to bad weather.
