Funkagenda is a DJ/Producer/Engineer from the UK. He produces mainly house, tech house, techno and a sprig of minimal. Starting his career at the age of just 13, helping to program backing tracks for his fathers club act, he quickly got a taste for music and life on the road. He formed his own bands at high school and became a multi instrumentalist, locking himself away in his home 4-Track studio for days at a time.

Then as he hit his late teens, amidst fronting a soft rock band, he was lured into the charms of dance music by the legendary VOODOO RAY. From this point on it was a love affair, and whilst he continued to learn the more conventional side of music at college, with his A levels etc, he was burning the midnight oil in his home studio crafting Drum + Bass and Techno works.

Speaking of his beginnings he said, “I started producing back when massive workstations like the Korg 01W and the Yamaha SY99 stalked the earth. My father and grandfather used to have a club act doing rock and 60s/70s covers and went to amazing lengths to make their backing sequences sound like the originals. I used to help them out, playing a few notes here and there and got involved in trying to make patches. My love for sequencing came really from that. Every instrument I got after that I wanted to know how to push to its limit!” 

In the late nineties during the house explosion he found where his passion lay and over the years, has carved a big name for himself synonymous with quality house music. With releases on labels as prominent as Toolroom, Positiva, Defected, Azuli, Ministry of Sound, Size, Big Love and Subliminal, his production and remixing skills are highly sought after worldwide.

Though an extremely talented producer, Funkagenda’s production talent is not the only string in his bow. His DJ talents also have led him to picking up bar and small club residencies making him a permanent fixture in clubs around the globe. Always re-editing and remixing tracks into his own style, his sets have a unique sound and catch the ears of many promoters around him.

Funkagenda is also the creative commander of Funk Farm, as well as being a key member of the iconic Toolroom Records. Winning both the Ibiza DJ ‘Best Ibiza Track 2008’ and the Beatport ‘Best Tech House Track 2008’ award for his cover of Laurent Garnier’s, ‘Man With The Red Face’ which was a collaboration with Mark Knight, Funkagenda was also presented with the Ibiza DJ ‘Best Newcomer 2008’ and Dj Mag best break trough artist 2009 awards for his solo achievements. Authenticity and originality are his trademark, establishing Funkagenda a solid reputation as a innovative DJ/producer.

His sound attracts listeners from a spectrum of genres, remixing artists including Basement Jaxx, Moby, Fat Boy Slim and Dirty Vegas. His production contributions to the Black Eyed Peas album ‘The E.N.D.’ were further recognised by an ‘Album of the Year’ nomination and a ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ award at the 52nd Annual Grammy’s.

Funkagenda’s first solo album was released on Toolroom Records in October ‘09 under the Toolroom Knights banner, consolidating a growing portfolio of success. Since the dominoes started to fall, Funkagenda has been a firmly fixed name across global music charts, regularly achieving Beatport No1 and Top 10 positions.

Accumulating fierce support both on and off the dance floor, from industry to individuals, Funkagenda continues to charge across the battlefields of dance; as a DJ, a producer and a fervent contributor to the world of music.
