Australian super duo Emoh Instead and Flume‘s final EP as What So Not is finally here. The Gemini EP gives us the first tease of the closing chapter of this iconic duo’s fine run in delivering mystifying and genreless productions, as the artists announced they’d be stepping away to focus more on their solo careers. Ironically though, the Gemini EP outlines the duo’s phantasmic capabilities and begs the question, ‘what if they stayed on a little longer‘? For now though, prepare yourseles for the aural delight that is ‘Gemini‘.

Chilling and rich in waveform, the opening of the track fuses elements of chill-step and breakbeat as a poignant vocal by Australian vocalist George Maple whispering in the background pierces through the misty and foggy production work. Light piano chords married to a crisp digitalized synth melody picks up the melody and the beat as Flume‘s signature gnawing wasp-effect and offbeat percussion breaks become ominous in the background.
