The Prodigy Lashes Out At Pre Recorded Sets

It’s been almost six years, but The Prodigy has finally returned to drop their first single, “Nasty” off their forthcoming album The Day Is My Enemy. Reigning the decades of early dance/rave music, The Prodigy are nothing short of veterans when it comes to electronic music. “Nasty” is set to be released on February 9th and it proves just how far ahead they’ve moved in terms of their sound.

In an interview with The Guardian, the trio spoke out against EDM producers being too safe and far too lazy. Referring to a gig in Ibiza, where certain DJs used USB sticks that contain their whole set, they mentioned, their entire set:

“I’m not a great fan of the place, but it isn’t an attack on the island, it’s an attack on these mindless fucking jokers that arrive in their Learjets, pull a USB stick out of their pockets, plug it in and wave their hands in the air to a pre-programmed mix. I can’t name names, but our lighting guy pulled out a CD, and said this is blah blah blah’s set, and I’m like, ‘What do you mean?’”

The Prodigy has witnessed the rise and fall of many, but their inventiveness has saved them from the same fate. Revolutionizing their sound time and again, they’re still pretty pissed off with their compatriots,

“Maybe I’m an angry person, but I was infuriated by this laziness. What’s all that shit about? You can’t build a scene around that, it’s never going to last or be credible….We’re from the proper rave scene, and it needs life breathing into it, but we’re not here to save anything. Fuck that! We’re here to wipe it out.”
