Yes you read it right, a 747 is making its way to Burning Man this year thanks to the non-profit Big Imagination foundation. Around 100 volunteers are working on the Jumbo Jet and many more are invited to install the Queen of the Skies here at the Playa. Around half the length of a Football field and about 3 stories tall the 747 is surely going to draw some attention to this festival held annually at the Black Rock City.
The 747 project invokes all the elements of a journey. It’s a destination, transportation, and an adventure. Our goal is to move participants in many ways, to take them on a trip not only from point A to point B, but also from the outer self to the inner self.
