Hot Since 82 wants to 'introduce EDM kids to something more eclectic'

One of our favourite producers to grace our world of dance music, Daley Padley a.k.a Hot Since 82 is soon going to be  (if not already) a revered name in every underground premise. Dedicated to doing what he does best, the UK native has seen numerous records top charts thanks to his skilled music palate and an insatiable desire to dish out melodic productions. After enjoying a stellar release with the Little Black Book LP last year, preceding a chart topping monster of a remix of Green Velvet’sBigger Than Prince‘, the Yorkshire lad seeks new horizons with the development of his very own platform to produce and promote music, a brand new label as well as a mix album titled Knee Deep In Sound. When inthemix caught Daley post set at one of his gigs in the U.S, Daley threw light on the intentions of his label and what he intended to achieve.

“I hope I can be important for kids who have had enough of EDM. I really have no opinion of EDM, and I’m not the kind of guy who would [knock] the genre because I don’t really know anything about it. The tiniest thing I do know about it, though, is when I do a large festival where there’s both EDM and house music, the guys always seem to play the same music, and I can’t quite understand that.

I think a lot of kids are realizing that now and are searching for different avenues in electronic music. I like to think I’m in a position where I can take them by the hand and introduce them to something more eclectic.”

In fact, Daley also suggests that the Knee Deep In Sound track list consists of up and coming artists who he feels deserve a platform for recognition. Knowing all too well how record labels can be with fresh, unheard of talent; Daley intends on giving young producers an actual shot at making it to the big game. Speaking about his search for new music, he also mentioned,

“On my Facebook, we set up a demo email for Knee Deep In Sound, and the volume of music we get sent daily is amazing. Amazing, yet quite annoying at the same time because it’s so hard to physically filter what’s good and what’s not, but there is a lot of good music that gets sent. These guys have never released a record before; they’re from third-world countries. It’s crazy when you think about it.
I think that I’m in a position, with the success that I’ve had, to bring these guys up and give them the light of day. So I employed someone to filter through all the music, so they listen to all of it, create folders and Dropbox them to me each week.”
We wish Daley all the best in his future endeavors! Let’s hope there’s a ton of music coming from his end of the substream. You can get your copy of Knee Deep in Sound via Beatport or iTunes.
