David Guetta recently sat down with Wall Street Journal for an interview to discuss his upcoming studio album. Guetta, whose last studio album Nothing But The Beat sold 4 million copies, and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronica Album, has said that the upcoming album is “probably his most personal album yet.”
Matching up to a chart topping, Grammy nominated album isn’t easy. “It’s quite challenging to make a new album after that,” he says “Honestly, I’m a little bit scared. It’s completely different from anything I’ve done before.”
The lead single from the album, Lovers On The Sun featuring vocalist Sam Martin is already out, and has received positive reviews from listeners and critics alike. Produced together with Avicii (who he collaborated with Guetta on Sunshine too), the single exhibits some of the same electro-country sound that Avicii has become renowned for of late.
However, what sets this album apart is the fact that he has challenged himself creatively for the album. “I just wanted to push myself to the max, and then play it others,” he said. “I know I can make beats that make people dance, so now the challenge is to create the best possible music and songs that are timeless.”
With collaborations with Avicii, Ed Sheeran and other artists, the album looks like a sure shot success for the French producer and DJ.
