In a new industry-insider feature produced with Mixmag, on the momentous occasion of 10 years of being the corner-shop of the Industry, to pick up our favorite tracks, remixes & compilations, Beatport went on to reveal a string of key statistics that have only stirred plenty debate and arguments. With the statistics restricted to record sales on Beatport only, it says an often lot about the trends of Dance Music. Interestingly, over the last span of the decade, which genre would you guess held the top berth when it comes to sales on Beatport? Would you believe its Deep house! Now, while industry pundits & statisticians may spend their grey cells on trying to evaluate how this happened, one thing is for sure, in the Dance music industry – nothing is what it seems!

Other charts include, the Top 10 Charted Tracks of all time – a chart topped profusely by big-room electro house productions. Leading the chart is the record breaking ‘Animals‘ by Martin Garrix, Swedish House Mafia‘s ‘Greyhound‘ and Nari & Milani‘s ‘Atom‘. Zedd feat Matthew Koma‘s ‘Spectrum‘, Alesso‘s ‘Years‘, Tube & Berger‘s ‘Imprint of Pleasure‘ & Sebastian Ingrosso & Tommy Trash‘ ‘Reload‘ also made the list. Deadmau5 however turned out to be a dominating figure in record sales, as he took away the prize in Top Selling Track of all Time for his remix for Burufunk & Carbon Community‘s ‘Community Funk‘ & Top Selling performer of all Time! Mark Knight quietly established his dominion as he ranked#2 on the Top Selling performer of all time but winning top spot on Longest Time spent at No.1 position for his remix for Florence & The Machine‘s ‘You Got the love‘.

So these were the key stats in a very revealing survey that gives us a very interesting trend of Dance Music. We’d love to engage you in thoughtful debate and discussion over these results. Would you agree with these stats?

Martin Garrix does not deserve the spot….Porter Robinson is way way way better than him in my opinion!
