We still remember the fabulous Dirtybird video for Claude VonStroke’s ‘Deep Throat’, which propelled the notorious, iconic and pretty scary big blue Dirtybird. Escalating towards more work of art, Dirtybird boss man channels an all singing and dancing music video in which he interviews a mysterious salesman for a job at Dirtybird.
The song that featured the vocals of Barry Drift has its video directed by Merkley who clearly helps portray that the life of a snow cone maker is really his passion.
“The track “Califuture” is about that little optimistic bug in everyone who moves to California that makes them think that someday they will be plucked up out of obscurity to become famous. Everyone has it in the back of their mind. But the music video goes one step further into madness. It’s the heart-wrenching story of a snow cone salesman trying to get a job at dirtybird and then realizing the life of a snow cone maker is really his passion.” said Dirtybird label founder Claude VonStroke.
“Merkley is one of the most interesting people I have ever met, in fact the inside of his house is like the craziest curiosity shop on earth. If you live in SF it’s almost impossible not to run into Merkley’s highly stylized photography at some point. In fact at one point around 2008 I think he had photographed almost everyone’s girlfriend or ex-girlfriend on our whole label. I have done several amazing photoshoots with Merkley over the years including the cover of my 2010 remix album “Makeovers.”
