“Dervish” is the second single from Simian Mobile Disco’s forthcoming ‘Whorl’ album, and is one of the album’s more overtly techno cuts – the hammering repetitive kick matched with a looping, simple melodic hook. The tough metallic chords that ‘Dervish’ opens with grow in intensity before being off-set by the ethereal sonic explorations of the track’s conclusion.
Non album b-side “Gamma Gulch” is a much more laid back affair – detuned oscillators drone and squeal over a washed out, dreamy melodic sound bed.
The ‘Dervish’ video again features the custom oscilloscope hardware used in the album’s artwork. Pre-order the album via iTunes here.
