Last weekend, the DJ TechTools crew were up in Montreal for the 15th edition of the MUTEK Festival, paired up with the digital-arts fest Elektra, for a joint presentation called EM15. EM15 featured all boundary-jumping artists from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Audion, Max Cooper, Fluxion and more.
Obviously, one of the biggest names present was techno veteran Richie Hawtin, who also performed twice. He sat down for an interview in the Ableton Lounge to go deep in the process of creating and performing music over the vast entirety of his 25 year career.
This discussion ranged from how Richie’s albums influence one another as well as how he had producers his early DE9 mixes. Also, he shared some exclusive behind-the -scenes photos of his DJ setups to his home studio.
Check out the video and don’t forget to amaze yourself with the slideshow of some stunning technical set ups.
