Vh1, the leading English entertainment channel in India, combined with Seagram’s 100 Pipers to bring forth Sound Nation – an extended LIVE music festival that lasted 9 days across 6 cities, featuring 23 gigs by 28 of India’s biggest English music artists and bands! The fantastic festival called upon English music enthusiasts from around the country to join in the celebrations and madness that bought various genres of music together at the biggest stages in respective cities. The festival culminated into the first of its kind ‘100 Pipers Vh1 Sound Nation Awards’, India’s premier music awards night on 11th May at Mumbai, where the finest performers were awarded under a string of various categories.

 

The star studded night was hosted by Cyrus Sahukar and Ramona Arena, meanwhile other notable celebrities that adorned the awards night included Nikhil Chinapa, Gary Lawyer, Carol Gracias, Hard Kaur, Indian actress, singer,music composer and musician, Shruti Hasan, Parizaad Kolah, Sonali Nagrani among others. The event also saw an ensemble of some incredible acts put up by Your Chin, Mad Boy/Mink, Indus Creed and Midival Punditz. The panelists for the awards show included some big names from the music industry including Dutch Superstar Nicky Romero; Nikhil Chinapa, Hard Kaur, Devraj Sanyal (Managing Director of Universal Music & EMI Music)Arjun Sankalia (Director- International Music and Special Products at Sony Music Entertainment) among many others.

The Awards show itself were a stunning affair with some of the best acts in India getting their due as they received recognition for their continued supremacy in their category of nomination. While Sahej Bakhsi aka Dualist Inquiry bagged the Artist of the Year Award, the Dualist Inquiry Band was picked as the Best Live Act. Pioneering musician Nitin Sawhney won the award for Best Global Indian, while newbie Nischay Parekh claimed the Best New Artist prize. The 100 Pipers VH1 Hall of Fame prize went to the legendary Indus Creed, for their continuous contribution to Rock music in India for over 20 years! Check out the complete list of winners below!
