SFX and Simon Cowell to partner on ‘Ultimate DJ,’ TV's electronic music competition!

In early 2012, Simon Cowell had shockingly suggested that The X Factor genesis could apply to electronic music as well, and that a television project might be in the works. However, it seemed like no one seemed to pleased to see Cowell’s viewpoint, and negative feedback was received all around, including Fatboy Slim turning down an offer to participate as one of the judges.

The dance music world however, is a dynamic one and with constant evolving and change bringing good and bad, this show however gets dragged into the tide and is now being revived. Cowell’s Syco Entertainment has partnered with SFX and T-Mobile to start production and a tentative working title of “Ultimate DJ” has been decided. Expected to begin online with user submissions via various social media, the new few rounds would include live performances at SFX owned production venues.

SFX CEO Robert Sillerman said,

Bringing EMC to the world is our goal, and building a TV franchise in the USA is a key part of that strategy.” Sillerman praises Cowell and Syco for their creative power, calling them “perfect partners” for their vision, and refers to T-Mobile’s John Leger as “the most exciting CEO of this generation.” With these partners, Sillerman will use Ultimate DJ as a vehicle in “challenging the status quo and pioneering new territory in business, media and entertainment.”
