A story recently appeared on BazzFeed.com which brought news of Eric Prydz suing over a 1000 EDM artists, including Tiesto and Martin Garrix, in what appears to be the worlds’s largest ever copyright lawsuit over his Pryda Snare sample.
The article had stated that “Pryda Recordings & Infamous PR today confirmed reports today of a $15m court case that has sent shockwaves through the world of electronic music & could cost some of EDM’s top producers several million dollars.”
Apparently this however was nothing more than a publicity stunt to garner views to upcoming artist John B’s podcast page. A simple click on “click here for more on the story” redirects you to the podcast website. Furthermore, scrolling down the article page, there’s a resounding “(NOT)” towards the end of the article.
To add to this, Eric Prydz himself tweeted the following to rubbish these rumours.
“@benlstoner: @ericprydz yeah, let's just sue people over a fucking snare sample.” You'll kick yourself…
