On 14th April a 10 year old kid, Aiden Jude dropped an “original” record called ‘Tonight’ that made him the center of much speculation. Some termed him as a child prodigy gifted in electronic dance music production skills while others put their money on a possibility of ghost production and well, the latter won the bet.
In a recent press release by Universal Music Publishing, it was revealed that Carlos Escalona, a producer and songwriter who has won a BMI Latin Award in the past, co-wrote the song with the recording artist, Nafsica for Aiden.
Even though as the single went viral, many had an inkling about the revelation already but the so called whiz kid was given the benefit of doubt to enjoy his 15 minutes of fame.
Instances like these add to the huge crunch that the EDM industry is trying to combat today. Ghost productions taint the norm of promoting good music and deserving talent, which are the ideals this industry has stuck by since its conception. Today, the barter of fame and money is quelling opportunities for those who are worthy of the credit. Thankfully well renowned and reputed DJs are coming forward to address the issue.
